How it works
Magnesium is one of the primary minerals found in the body, required for at least 300 biochemical reactions. Essential physiological functions that require adequate magnesium include cellular energy synthesis, muscular function, nerve conduction and blood glucose metabolism.
Magnesium plays an important role in regulating dietary calcium and potassium metabolism in the body. It is involved in muscular contraction and relaxation. Insufficient magnesium consumption through the diet may lead to muscle weakness, cramps, spasms or twitching.
Magnesium supports exercise endurance, stamina (when dietary intake is inadequate) and muscle performance, and contributes to maintaining energy levels. In addition, the magnesium lost in sweat during vigorous exercise may be replenished by including magnesium in the diet.
Healthy blood glucose metabolism and cardiovascular health
The body’s metabolism of blood glucose involves nutrients such as vitamin B1 and magnesium. Cardiovascular function and health are also maintained by magnesium when the intake of magnesium from the diet is inadequate.
Magnesium levels and premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Serum levels of magnesium have been demonstrated to be lower in women who experience PMS.1
Magnesium may provide relief of PMS symptoms such as aggression, breast soreness and mood fluctuations.
Magnesium glycinate: bioavailable and easily absorbed
An organic form of magnesium, magnesium glycinate is highly bioavailable. This is achieved by existing as a highly stable, electrically neutral and intact compound that the intestines readily absorb.
